First printed edition: 2019
A Persian-language practical handbook that brings together the operating principles, components, circuit interpretation, and systematic troubleshooting of vintage radio and audio equipment. Developed through technical research, source consolidation, original Persian educational writing, and consultation with an electronics engineer, the book turns a fragmented body of specialist material into a structured learning resource.
The Project
In 2019, I produced a printed Persian educational handbook on the fundamentals, operation, maintenance, and repair of historical radio and audio equipment. The project grew out of my broader work compiling technical references on radio schematics, valve-based electronics, and vacuum-tube specifications. Those reference collections were valuable, but they did not, by themselves, provide a continuous learning path for a Persian-speaking reader.
This book addressed a different need: explaining how the technology works and connecting that understanding to a practical approach to troubleshooting.
The subject matter spans vintage valve and transistor radios, gramophones, and sound recording/playback equipment. Instead of presenting diagrams as isolated reference material, the handbook introduces the underlying electronic concepts and shows readers how to interpret components, operating stages, technical labels, and fault-finding procedures.
From Reference Material to Technical Education
The manuscript was authored and compiled by me in Persian, drawing on multiple technical references rather than translating one existing book as a single source. During development, I also consulted an electronics engineer, who helped explain and clarify specialist concepts at a time when convenient access to online technical knowledge was limited.
My contribution encompassed the educational structure, research, selection and consolidation of material, Persian explanations, technical presentation, and preparation of the book for physical publication. The original historical circuit diagrams, manufacturer specifications, and reference concepts remain attributable to their respective sources; my work was to make them coherent and teachable within a new Persian-language handbook.
This distinction matters: the project was neither an original invention of vintage electronic circuits nor merely a scanned archive. It was the creation of a practical educational work from a range of specialist materials, supported by domain-expert clarification.
Subject Coverage
The material presented in the surviving sample pages and 2019 publication posts includes:
- Electronic foundations: the role of components, circuit symbols, operating principles, and relevant electrical terminology.
- Vacuum-tube technology: construction, electrode arrangements, tube designations, and the function of valve stages in electronic equipment.
- Radio reception: interpretation of radio circuits and the technical context of frequency bands including LW, MW, SW, and FM.
- Radio and audio hardware: valve and transistor radios, gramophones, and audio recording/playback devices.
- Circuit interpretation: relating technical diagrams and component references to the behavior of the device being studied.
- Practical fault-finding: step-by-step diagnostic logic, including branching troubleshooting flowcharts rather than relying exclusively on descriptive paragraphs.
A particularly useful teaching element was the use of fault-isolation diagrams: a reader could follow a symptom through successive observations and checks, making the material more operational than an ordinary component glossary.
Editorial and Technical Approach
The book was developed around a straightforward sequence:
- Gather and compare relevant historical and technical reference material.
- Work through difficult concepts, including explanations from an electronics engineer.
- Establish a Persian learning structure rather than reproduce disconnected reference pages.
- Connect component-level explanations to circuit operation and real equipment categories.
- Introduce visual diagrams and troubleshooting sequences where prose alone would be less effective.
- Prepare a coherent manuscript for physical publication and sale.
The objective was to help readers progress from identifying an electronic part to understanding its place in a circuit, and then to recognizing how a fault might be investigated systematically.
Publication and Evidence
The first version was produced as a physical Persian-language book in 2019 and was advertised for sale in Iran. Contemporary posts dated 15 and 20 December 2019 show sample interior pages, component diagrams, technical explanations, and troubleshooting flowcharts.
My original printed copy was left in Iran, so the current portfolio evidence consists of the surviving contemporary photographs and publication material. The book's exact final page count is not asserted here without the original edition at hand.
Relationship to the Three-Volume Historical Radio Archive
This is a separate authorship and education project, not a fourth volume of the previously compiled technical archive.
The distinction is:
| Project | Primary purpose |
|---|---|
| Historical Radio & Vacuum Tube Technical Archive | Preserve and consolidate extensive original reference materials, schematics, service documentation, and datasheets across three volumes. |
| Persian Handbook of Vintage Radio & Audio Equipment Repair | Teach the subject through an independently structured Persian manuscript, technical explanations, and practical troubleshooting workflows. |
Together, the projects show a progression from information collection and reference publishing to technical synthesis and instructional design.
Future Direction
I intend to reconstruct and potentially expand the handbook into a stronger second edition. The original printed book remains the completed historical deliverable; a new edition is a future development rather than a claim of work already finished.
The revision would provide an opportunity to re-evaluate explanations, improve illustration quality, revisit the organization of chapters, and modernize the production workflow while retaining the book's core aim: accessible, technically grounded Persian education in vintage radio and audio electronics.
Portfolio Summary
Persian Handbook of Vintage Radio & Audio Equipment Repair (2019) — Authored and compiled a printed Persian technical handbook covering the principles, components, operating stages, and troubleshooting of valve/transistor radios and historical audio devices. Synthesized multiple specialist sources, clarified concepts in consultation with an electronics engineer, and developed illustrated explanations and branching fault-finding material for practical study. A revised and expanded second edition is planned.
