Overview
Persian Editorial & Proofreading Automation was a specialized document-processing workflow developed around Microsoft Word and VBA to reduce repetitive Persian proofreading and editorial work.
The project evolved from the broader bibliographic automation environment but addressed a different problem: text quality control rather than typing speed.
Purpose
The goal was to automate parts of Persian editorial checking and cleanup using external reference data.
The historical workflow used dictionary/reference material, including Dehkhoda as a linguistic reference source, to assist in identifying spelling issues and repeated normalization tasks.
Surviving screenshots show an editorial workspace containing files such as:
AutoCorrect Backup Document.docx
AutoCorrect.dotm
Check.xlsx
Final.xlsx
Quran.xlsx
repeat1.xlsx
repeat2.xlsx
Swap 1.xlsx
Swap 2.xlsx
These artifacts support the existence of a rule/reference-driven document-processing workflow.

Main Functions
The system was used for tasks such as:
- spelling-oriented checking;
- Persian text cleanup;
- script normalization;
- repeated editorial corrections;
- reference-driven substitutions;
- batch-style cleanup rules;
- assisted correction inside Microsoft Word.
Why It Was a Separate Project
The original productivity macros were designed to improve speed. This project focused on quality control.
Typing Productivity
≠
Text Quality Control
Once dictionary-based checking and editorial rules became substantial enough, the workflow became a separate project.
Technology
- Microsoft Word
- VBA
- Excel-based reference data
- AutoCorrect
- Persian text processing
- rule-based editorial automation
Engineering Value
The project demonstrates Persian text normalization, rule-based document processing, dictionary-assisted editorial workflows, VBA automation, Word integration, structured reference data and human-in-the-loop proofreading.
Important Accuracy Boundary
This project should be described as editorial automation, not as AI proofreading, semantic grammar correction or full linguistic NLP unless surviving source code later proves those capabilities.
