Quranic & Arabic AutoCorrect Engine

Overview

The Quranic & Arabic AutoCorrect Engine was a domain-specific text-entry and expansion system built around Microsoft Word, VBA, AutoCorrect and supporting reference data.

It evolved from the broader bibliographic automation environment but became a standalone project because it addressed a specialized problem: accelerating the entry of Arabic and Quranic content.

Historical Evidence

Surviving files visible in screenshots include:

Quran.xlsx
QuranArabicText.doc
AutoCorrect.dotm

Additional screenshots show Arabic text with multiple diacritic forms, Word output using Arabic script and a VBA project containing reusable macro logic.

Core Problem

Arabic and Quranic text entry often required:

  • difficult characters;
  • diacritics;
  • repeated religious phrases;
  • Quranic references;
  • commentary references;
  • repeated source patterns.

Traditional keyboard input made many of these actions slow.

Core Idea

The system converted shorter input into structured output.

Diacritic Acceleration

Simplified key mappings reduced the effort required to type Arabic diacritics through conventional keyboard combinations.

AutoCorrect as an Input Engine

Microsoft Word AutoCorrect was repurposed as a lightweight text-expansion mechanism.

The project extended this into a domain-specific workflow tailored for Quranic and Arabic publishing tasks.

Reference Data

Excel files such as Quran.xlsx acted as supporting reference datasets. The exact historical column structure is not currently verified, so the safe description is:

Supporting reference datasets for Quranic and Arabic text automation.

Domain-Specific Expansion

The system supported recurring patterns related to Quranic references, Arabic characters, diacritics, repeated religious phrases and commentary references.

Engineering Value

The project demonstrates Word/VBA automation, multilingual text handling, Arabic text processing, domain-specific text expansion, keyboard/input optimization and reference-data integration.
